Growing Advice

Being alpine plants, Saxifragas prefer a well-drained site but need a soil that holds moisture that is not waterlogged so incorporating grit at the time of planting is beneficial along with a mixture of well-rotted manure or leaf mould mixed with  garden soil should be ideal.

Although they need a good amount of light, too much exposure to direct sunshine can cause them to suffer so a top-dressing of coarse grit will hold in moisture in dry periods. In drought conditions they will need watering.
